A Scenic Journey Through Our Home Village
The experience begins with a scenic journey through Kilpisjärvi in a passenger sledge pulled by your local guide's snowmobile.
Along the way, we stop to admire the surrounding landscapes and take photographs. Your guide introduces you to everyday life in this remote Arctic village, sharing personal stories about local traditions and the changing seasons.
This journey offers a glimpse into life in Kilpisjärvi before we continue to the reindeer farm, where Sámi culture and reindeer herding become the main focus of the experience.
Sámi Culture and Reindeer Herding at Tornensis Reindeer Farm
Tornensis Reindeer Farm is a traditional family farm where knowledge of reindeer herding has been passed down through generations.
A member of the Sámi family welcomes you and introduces you to Sámi culture, reindeer herding, and the close relationship between people, animals, and the Arctic environment.
The stories and knowledge shared during the visit come from the family's own experiences and traditions.
Meet and Feed the Reindeer
At the farm, you can meet the reindeer up close and help feed them one of their favorite foods: lichen.
This peaceful encounter gives you time to observe the animals and learn about their importance to Sámi culture and everyday life in Lapland.
A Personal Experience in a Small Group
With a maximum of 12 guests, this guided experience offers plenty of opportunities for questions, conversation, and photography along the way.
Traveling in a small group allows you to share the experience with other travelers while enjoying the personal approach of your local guide.
Please note that Tornensis Reindeer Farm also welcomes other groups, and additional visitors may be present during the farm visit. Your Destination Kilpisjärvi guide remains with you throughout the experience.
Small-Group Departures
This experience is offered on Mondays and Saturdays for a maximum of 12 guests.
Individual travelers, couples, and small parties are welcome to book. The tour requires a minimum of four participants to operate.
If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we will contact you to arrange an alternative date or a full refund.
