Authentic Sámi Culture at Tornensis Reindeer Farm

The reindeer stories are saved for the visit to Tornensis Reindeer Farm, a traditional farm run by a Sámi family whose ancestors have herded reindeer in Lapland for centuries.

The reindeer farm is a shared visitor site, meaning there are usually other travelers present during the visit. Despite this, the encounter remains authentic and informative. You meet a member of the Sámi family who introduces you to Sámi culture, reindeer herding and the deep connection between people, animals and nature. The stories and knowledge shared are based on lived experience passed down through generations.

Meeting the Reindeer

At the farm, you get close to the reindeer and take part in feeding them their favorite treat, lichen. This calm and respectful moment allows for a genuine connection with the animals and a deeper appreciation of their role in Sámi culture and everyday life.
